Common Core State Standards, College and Career Ready Standards
Welcome to the Olathe Public Schools information page about the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The goal of this page is to provide parents and stakeholders of the Olathe Public Schools with information about CCSS, what it is and how it will be implemented in the district. CCSS is a national effort to standardize what students across the country need to learn in four core areas. According to the Kansas Department of Education, "the standards provide clear goals for student learning in different subject areas and help teachers ensure their students have the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the future." School districts in the state of Kansas will be transitioning to the Common Core State Standards in the 2013-14 school year.
On this page you will find helpful documents regarding the Kansas Common Core Standards, including a summary entitled "What are the Common Core Standards?" In addition, you can find a Frequently Asked Questions document from the Kansas State Department of Education. We will continue to add pertinent information as it becomes available. We hope you find this information helpful as the Olathe School District transitions to the district Common Core Standards.
