Seminar Helps Parents Understand Students' Frustrations

Jan. 6, 2012 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Special Services Site Council will host a free seminar for parents of students with disabilities. "Maybe If I Try a Little Harder . . . Experiencing the Frustration and Anxiety of a Student with Learning Disabilities" is the topic of the Jan. 19 meeting. It begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Instructional Resource Center, 14090 Black Bob Road, Olathe.

Assistant Director of Special Services Lanie Fasulo and Special Services Coordinator Cristan Philipp help parent attendees experience the frustration, anxiety and tension involved in being a student with a learning disability.

The Special Services Site Council's fifth and sixth seminars of the year will focus on summer learning opportunities. "How Can I Spend My Summer? Opportunities for Students with Special Needs" and "Let the Learning Continue: Summer Opportunities for the Gifted Student" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. April 12.
