Dix Semifinalist for National Hall of Fame

Feb. 2, 2012 ~ Olathe North High School science teacher Randy Dix is one of 22 semi-finalists named by the National Teachers Hall of Fame in Emporia. The five finalists will be inducted in June.

Randy DixThe National Teachers Hall of Fame was founded in 1989 and is the only facility of its kind dedicated to recognizing career teachers.

In her nomination letter for Dix, Deputy Superintendent Alison Banikowski wrote that Dix is a consummate professional who is committed and dedicated to education.

"When you walk into Randy's classroom it is evident Randy is a master at his craft," Banikowski wrote. "Students are actively engaged in purposeful learning. Randy continuously connects with practitioners in the field of life sciences, providing engaging opportunities typically only available to students beyond high school, such as students working side by side with doctoral researchers and physicians at the University of Kansas Medical Center and students presenting at professional conventions. Randy's enthusiasm, creativity, and passion spark even the reluctant learner."
