Purchase of Discount Cards Helps Schools
Feb. 3, 2012 ~ Buy-one-get-one appetizers, smoothies and sandwiches are a few of the items on the menu when patrons purchase a Major Saver discount card to benefit the Olathe Public Schools Foundation and individual schools. This year the cards also include a non-edible treat: two free games of bowling.
Olathe elementary students are selling the $10 discount cards and they're available at www.majorsaver.com through Tuesday, Feb. 7. Patrons can designate which school they want to benefit from the purchase, and even name a particular student to receive credit for the transaction. The new online feature even allows patrons to purchase a card for another city, such as Bonner Springs or even Springfield, and designate that the sale benefit Olathe students.
Cards purchased online will be mailed directly to the patron. Cards purchased from a school or student will be delivered in person.
Half of the proceeds of card sales stay in the schools to provide funding for field trips, equipment purchases, or books and supplies. The remaining proceeds support the Olathe Public Schools Foundation's classroom grants, summer school scholarships, and Educator Excellence Awards.
For more information on purchasing a Major Saver Discount Card, please call the foundation office at (913) 780-8222 or contact an Olathe elementary school. Learn more about the efforts of the Olathe Public Schools Foundation at http://www.olathepublicschoolsfoundation.org/.
