Alumni Association Seeks Wall of Honor Nominations
Jan. 9, 2013 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association seeks nominations for its 2013 Wall of Honor and will accept nomination forms through March. This year's honorees will be recognized at a banquet Oct. 2 and the Olathe Public Schools Board of Education meeting on Oct. 3.
Nominees must have graduated from a district high school at least 20 years ago. Nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis, but the 2013 Wall of Honor forms must be received by March 29. A nomination form is available at www.olatheschools.com/alumni.
To date, 46 graduates of Olathe schools have been recognized for their accomplishments in their personal or professional lives, in community service, or for a lifelong commitment to educational excellence. These honorees have included teachers, governors, military servicemen, mayors, authors, and athletes to name a few of their accomplishments.
The most recent group of honorees was: Don Davis, Olathe South High School Class of 1991; Bob Enright, John P. St. John Memorial High School Class of 1947; Tom Payne, John P. St. John Class of 1948; Rhonda Reist, Olathe North High School Class of 1984; Nancy Millbern Schulz, John P. St. John Class of 1952; and Greg Sheffer, Olathe South Class of 1989. Long-time coach and teacher Ralph Dennis was selected as the association's first Distinguished Person of Honor.
Plaques for each group, as well as a touch-screen kiosk with photos and biographies, are located in the lobby of the district's Education Center, 14160 Black Bob Road, Olathe, Kansas. The Wall of Honor is also available online at http://schools.olatheschools.com/buildings/wallofhonor/.
